GCSE ICT is currently under development for first teaching in 2010. We are consulting with teaching professionals about the development of our new specification and what you want to see in the proposed new qualifications which our subject teams are currently planning. Our aim is to keep abreast of innovations and move with the e-times. For example our proposed qualifications will allow learners to explore new technology such as satellite navigation and other nascent technological innovations.
We plan to make OCR's ICT draft specifications available during July 2009 and the accredited specifications should be available during November and December 2009. More information will be sent to all schools, colleges and centres closer towards the time.
We are also developing comprehensive teacher support materials to help you deliver the new specifiations from 2010, including publisher support from Hodder Education. New materials will be available during spring 2009. Please visit Hodder's own ICT website pages for more details.
OCR is currently market leader for GCSE ICT and we will continue to use our expertise in this area including the wealth of IT qualifications from GCSE, A Level, Nationals plus CLAiT because our qualifications provide clear progression routes to further education, such as OCR's A Level ICT.
Additionally, if you would like to sign up to take part in our own GCSE ICT development group, please email your contact details to GCSE.ICT@ocr.org.uk since we are keen to hear your views and input.
You can find more information about GCSE ICT on the OCR website.
Functional Skills ICT encourages learners to use technology in ways which make them effective and involved as citizens and enable them to operate confidently in life and work in a wide range of contexts.
